MVPO can collect traffic and pedestrian counts in order to assist transportation and active transportation planning in the region.

Communities can apply for numerous State and Federal grants with assistance from MVPO. Programs related to transportation include trail development and recreational facilities through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, economic development opportunities through Transportation Improvement Districts, and Safety grants and Transportation Alternatives through the Ohio Department of Transportation. MVPO produced a comprehensive five-year Safety Report presenting regional crash trends from 2016-2020, top crash locations from 2018-2020, and potential funding opportunities to enhance safety throughout the Maumee Valley Planning Organization (MVPO) region.
